The Five of Pentacles tarot card means a season of material hardship in which help is closer than it looks. Waite's reversed list is severe: disorder, chaos, discord and waste, which warns that careless spending or quarrels can deepen a difficulty. Most readers today take the reversal as the turn of the season: the worst passing, the travellers coming in from the snow, help finally accepted. Either way the repair runs in one direction. Bring order to one area first, usually the accounts or the daily routine, stop the most obvious leak, and say yes to the support that is being offered. Recovery on this card begins indoors, with the door you choose to open.
