The Six of Swords tarot card means a passage from troubled water to calmer ground: moving on, with help. The reversal carries two readings, and Waite's comes first: declaration, confession and publicity, and one account he gives calls it a proposal of love. Something carried silently across the water is now spoken aloud. Modern readers take the reversal as a crossing delayed or resisted: unfinished business holding you on the old shore, fear of the unknown, or a trip interrupted. Both readings point the same way. Say what needs saying before you leave, settle what can be settled in a day, and then step into the boat. The far shore has not moved, and the ferryman is still waiting.
