An interpretive parallel between two traditions, offered as a teaching aid. It is not a scriptural citation, and neither tradition is said to describe the other.
The Knight of Wands resembles rajas, the guna of motion and passion, at its most noble: the force that gets things moving. The Katha Upanishad compares the body to a chariot, the senses to horses and the intellect to the charioteer, and the rearing horse under its composed rider is a natural picture of that image. Buddhi holds the reins here.
