The Queen of Wands tarot card means warm, confident power: a person who leads by radiance and makes others feel capable. The plate shows a crowned queen seated frontally on a throne carved with lions, a leafing wand in her right hand and a sunflower in her left, a black cat sitting before her and three pyramids far behind under a golden sky. Upright she is magnetism, generosity and success. Reversed, her warmth sours into jealousy, temper or possessiveness.

When she falls reversed, the Queen's warmth loses its centre. Waite's reversed reading is unusually mild at first: good, economical, obliging, serviceable. But he adds that in certain positions and near cards that tend that way it signifies opposition, jealousy, even deceit and infidelity.
