Upside down, the Six of Cups turns in Waite's reading toward the future: renewal, and that which will come to pass presently. The gaze shifts from what was to what is arriving. Many modern readers take the reversal the other way, as being stuck in the past, idealising old times or clinging to childhood roles; if that fits the question, read it so.
