Reversed, the juggling has outrun the juggler. A third coin has been added, or the sea has risen, and the dance has become a scramble. Waite gives the reversed card as enforced gaiety and simulated enjoyment, and also as letters and written exchange, which fits the modern sense of papers and bills falling behind.
